The PropertySet system is used to dynamically attach properties to IFC objects. The concept of 'PropertySet system' describes the system for defining these properties. The actual descriptions of the properties are defined as separate concepts.
The IFC model contains some pre defined PropertySets that should be used if they are useful. If there is need to extend the model beyond the predefined PropertySets this can be done by reaching agreement about the new properties in some group of implementers. Because the IFC model is open all PropertySets should be published to the IAI.
